Challenge / Goal

As part of the "Living Lab" innovation network in Ludwigsburg, this use case is an example of how cities can become "smarter" in the future. Smart lanterns do not only save electricity but also protect the environment and animals.

Solution

The Stadtwerke Ludwigsburg-Kornwestheim GmbH (SWLB) has installed 23 innovative LED streetlights from Trilux on the sidewalk and bikeway between Oßweil and  the eastern part of the city. The street light points with a wide range of use options are suitable locations for the smart lighting. The LED lanterns use sensors to detect movements. They automatically dim the light at low traffic times and illuminate the surroundings only when vehicles or pedestrians approach. Once the traffic or individuals have passed by, the system reduce the light intensity or switches the lights off completely.
