To decrease car traffic in the city, Park and Rides at the cities outskirts are being built and promoted. Multimodality and different last mile solutions are key in this.
Antwerp wants to provide locations – such as P&R’s in the city outskirts – where commuters can easily switch from one transportation mode to a more sustainable other when traveling to and from their work in the city or port area. Multimodality and the connectivity between different transportation modes is therefore further developed.
The city is making efforts to further promote and develop the use of Park and Rides. This way, car users have the possibility to park their car at the edge of the city and continue their trip into the city center by public transport or shared transport (bike, scooter,...).
