Challenge / Goal

Funding was secured from a Welsh Government fund to support community awareness initiatives. The collected data will be enhanced by integrating additional flood level sensors throughout the County. The project developers will utilize a weather sensor to monitor rainfall and assess its effects on local streams. To ensure the preservation of this valuable information for the long term, it will be stored in a manner that facilitates the identification of climate change trends. Moreover, the objective is to make this data openly available to the public, allowing unrestricted access and utilization.

Solution

We procured a DecentLab weather station and connected it to our open TTN LoRaWAN network and we stored the data on our own SQL database and presented the data publicly via Grafana.

Citizen participation

The data is primarily being utilized internally to support our flooding engineers in their work. However, recognizing the significance of the information, we also find it important to share it with the public.
